Haze a robust, general-purpose RapidWeaver theme; ideal for blogs, educational and business websites. Basically any project where you need a fast, simple and unobtrusive theme, in which to present written content and rich media.

In some respects, Haze is not too dissimilar from the Media RapidWeaver theme in layout or features. However in Haze, the optional banner container is devoid of any overlaying elements (like the site title, slogan or navigation bar). This gives you a useful space above the page fold, to display eye-catching graphics, slideshows or even video.

A subtle colour scheme and formal sans-serif typeface give this theme a professional appearance. The main page content is all contained within a simple box, giving pages a clean and consistent appearance. It's a great theme design if you want something a bit more traditional in appearance. This simple page layout yields good print / PDF output too.

By default, Haze uses an animated drop-down menu. This will revert to a toggle navigation menu on smaller screen sizes (to avoid breakage). Users of this theme not wishing to use a drop-down menu can also choose from either a simple split or block navigation layout. To display downward-pointing chevron icons after parent page links, simply enter this code after the page name:

<i class='fa fa-angle-down'></i>

Settings galore

Don't believe for one minute that Haze is yet another disappointing "what you see is what you get" RapidWeaver theme! Dozens of useful theme settings allow you to precisely customise many aspects of Haze and build websites that look unlike any other. Just about every colour can be changed using built-in colour pickers. Font faces, sizes and line heights can be adjusted to suite your requirements. The width and position of the sidebar is fully customisable. Other aspects like the main container width, internal padding and external margins can also be modified using the theme settings. So too can the body background.

Haze incorporates some extended RapidWeaver album style settings, allowing you to customise the thumbnail appearance and other associated colours.

Haze uses an HTML5 Doctype and has been tested and confirmed to work in IE7, IE8, IE9, IE10, IE11, Safari, Opera, Chrome and Firefox. The theme performs well on devices like the iPad and iPhone, and also plays nicely with a wide variety of RapidWeaver page style plugins.

As you would expect, Haze is fully responsive. This means that you can build a single website for conventional desktop browsers, which can also bend-and-morph to view beautifully on smaller handheld devices like smartphones and tablets. Especially important nowadays when so much website traffic comes from mobile devices...

ExtraContent enabled

Haze was one of the first third-party RapidWeaver themes to include support for the then-new ExtraContent technique. This theme continues to host 8 ExtraContent containers, allowing you to build more complex page layouts.

ExtraContent1 in this theme forms the social bar. This dedicated bar can be floated left or right in a page (or display as a horizontal tagline). It's ideal for social networking / bookmarking icons and other useful links.

ExtraContent5 can be turned on in the theme style settings, and forms a semi-transparent content box floated over the theme banner container; perfect for captions or useful links.

FreeStyle banner

The banner container in Haze is 'FreeStyle enabled'. As the name suggests, this gives you a blank canvas and complete freedom to build fully-responsive banners of any size, shape or content you desire. 30 example banner images are included with this theme to get you started (named 1.jpg - 30.jpg). If 'FreeStyle' sounds alien to you, see the live demo site and the theme user guides for some helpful information. Once you have converted to FreeStyle, you'll probably never want to setup theme banners any other way!

Expert paradise

If you're a well-seasoned RapidWeaver user or just someone who wants to take their web development skills further; then Haze is a brilliant framework to use for building polished websites and web apps. Like many other premium ThemeFlood RapidWeaver themes, Haze includes complete support for the Twitter Bootstrap Toolkit. We also include Font Awesome Icons as standard. A custom.css and javascript.js file in the theme contents make it easier to write and deploy your own theme modifications.

Find out more

As the name suggests, Haze is a somewhat deceptive and closely-concealed theme! In the past some people have mistakenly overlooked the power and capabilities of this RapidWeaver theme. Therefore it is strongly recommended you check the live demo site. There is also a free demo version and sandwich file you can download (links towards the top of this page). All of these combined will give you maximum insight into what this theme can do and how it works.

If you have any further questions about Haze, feel free to get in contact.

Haze is currently supplied with a 15% discount code for the latest version of WeaverPix. The theme also includes free usage of the FreeStyle banner stack, which normally retails at £10.00 GBP. If you require help with purchasing Haze, please click onto the support page and click the 'purchasing help' tab for more information.

Updates for the Haze RapidWeaver theme are free for all existing users. Theme updates are periodically released to introduce new features and maintain compatibility with the latest RapidWeaver addons and web browsers. You can tell if an update is available for Haze, by comparing the number shown next to the theme name in the RapidWeaver theme panel, compared with the version number shown on the right.

Generally theme updates are not sent out automatically, because previously it was found many of the emails went missing in junk or spam mail filters. Instead you're invited to check for Haze updates yourself, and download them at a time convenient to you. Updates also get publicised via the RapidWeaver Addon website, the RapidWeaver Central newsletter and the free iCentral app.

Theme updates can be obtained using the original download link, emailed to you when you purchased Haze. If you no longer have this download link or you require an expired link to be reactivated, please send a quick email, and include the following information:

  • Name and version of the theme you need an update for (in this case say that you need Haze 3.3)
  • The name and email address used when you purchased the theme
  • The purchase method used (was it purchased through the website or as a direct order?)
  • Any other useful information like the date, or invoice number

Once your purchase details have been located, you'll be sent a new download link. Theme updates are recognised in RapidWeaver as new themes, so multiple versions of the same theme can be safely installed alongside each other. This means you can selectively update certain projects to use newer themes, and any customisations you've applied like custom code or images don't get deleted. For more information on updating themes, please see the theme user guide.
